Gustav Holst's ‘The Planets'

The Woes of Retail: NYTimes journalist and author Caitlin Kelly stops by the Free LIbrary this evening to read from her new book Malled: My Unintentional Career in Retail. Kelly's hilarious memoir documents her mid-career plight which forced her to take a job at an upscale boutique and how the gig helped her gain a deeper understanding of the world. 6 p.m.

Hoist the Planets: As has been sadly well-documented, the Philadelphia Orchestra needs your money, and tonight is a great time to pay out as they perform Gustav Holst's 'The Planets', an eerie and expansive piece that will have you zipping through the cosmos from the safety of the Kimmel. Adding to the space-age atmosphere will be the women of the Philadelphia Singer's Chorale. $20-$130; 8 p.m.

Rotating Bottles: Head to the Abbaye this early eveing for $2 off all drafts, $3 well drinks, $5 glasses of wine, and $2 rotating bottles. Stick around after happy hour for some spirited quizzo action. 5-7 p.m.

Going out can be a gamble, so why leave it up to chance? Stack the deck every afternoon by peeping Play's Dance Card.
