Grant Achatz Makes TIME 100 List

Time has released their annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world, which includes usual suspects President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, Oprah, Mark Zuckerberg, Prince William and Kate Middleton—and chef-owner Grant Achatz of Chicago's Alinea.

Achatz's personal achievements include having the best restaurant in America and opening one of the most intriguing restaurants in the year, surviving cancer, and helping to redefine modern cuisine as we know it.

His bio was written by mentor and fellow S. Pellegrino winner, Thomas Keller of New York's Per Se, who says, "Grant exemplifies the modern chef—and nothing, not even tongue cancer, has impeded his vision and desire. While his culinary achievements have been many, knowing Grant, I expect his best is yet to come." [Time]
