Godspeed You! Play Trippy Show

Staying true to their trippy roots, newly reunited post-rock outfit Godspeed You! Black Emperor employed the heavy usage of film loops during their sold-out show at the Trocadero Saturday night.

The nine-person band, who last toured nearly eight years ago before going on indefinite hiatus, reunited last year initially for an ATP show in England, before embarking on a North American tour. The response has been pretty intense, with shows selling out in a matter of minutes.

During their two-and-a-half-hour instrumental gig on Saturday, they played a selection of favorities and a host of other tracks to an enthralled crowd. Well, mostly enthralled, anyway. It seems film loops and 18-minute drone dirges aren't necessarily for everyone.
