Go on and Take a Free Ride

Voted as 2009’s Top New Jersey Beach, Ocean City keeps finding ways to improve. Starting on Saturday, August 1, the popular vacation spot will provide free trolley service to and from downtown.

“The trolley is a great way for beach residents to visit downtown and the boardwalk during the day. With over 40,000 riders in 2008, the trolley service has been very successful in getting people to use alternative means of transportation and leave their cars parked,” said City Administrator Jim Rutala.

The trolley will run (the length of the island) from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. daily through Sunday, September 6.

A boardwalk trolley will also run every 15 minutes starting at 5 p.m. with last pickup at 11:30 p.m.

Unfortunately, the evening trolley is not free, but it is cheap and it sure beats finding parking. Adults pay $2.50 one-way or $3.50 for unlimited rides all day. Kids under four feet ride for a buck and babies are free.
