Services for Sidewalk Crash Victims Continue

A long week for families and the neighborhood

Funerals and services began on Tuesday for the mother, baby and two little girls killed by a runaway driver last week in Feltonville.

A man running from a crime scene lost control of his speeding car and slammed into a group of people out enjoying a warm evening, according to police. Accident investigators said the car could have been traveling nearly 70 miles per hour when it crashed, killing a mother and her baby and two other little girls, ages 6 and 7.

A memorial was held on Monday night for Latoya Smith, 22 and her baby, Remedy, who was killed just two days shy of her first birthday.

Tuesday morning was the first funeral for Aaliyah Griffin, 6. Family, friends and community members gathered afterwards at the Church for a repast, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Wednesday night, a viewing was held for Gina Rosario, 7 at Compagnola Funeral Home, 4405 N. Fifth St.

Thursday morning is the funeral for Rosario. It begins at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 5 W. Girard Ave., with burial to follow in Greenmount Cemetery.

Friday, the funeral will be held for Latoya and Remedy Smith. Services are at United Methodist Church of Bala Cynwyd, 314 Levering Mill Rd. The viewing is from 9 to 11 a.m, when the funeral mass begins.
