Mike Stollenwerk's popular seafood restaurant, Fish, is moving to the white-hot Midtown Village later this fall. The new space is located on the corner of 13th and Locust streets, and will feature between 75 and 100 seats, more than doubling the 38 in the current digs at 17th and Lombard Streets.
The Independent Hotel is perched above Fish 2.0, which will give Stollenwerk the opportunity to provide room service and increase revenue as the chef/owner expands his footprint in Philadelphia. (He currently owns Little Fish in Queen Village and Fathom in Fishtown, as well.).
Fish won't change much in terms of menu, but Stollenwerk plans to expand the raw bar offerings (as of now, oysters are the only chilly bites available) and small plates that have dominated the Fishtown location. Fish's legendary Skate Wing, which is the best version we've ever eaten anywhere, will surely stay on the list.
Evangelists of Fish won't have to worry about a service interruption, as Stollenwerk plans to keep the current location open right up until the new restaurant is ready to go. [The Feast]
