Ironic: Firefighters Fight Ambulance House Fire

In a strange twist of fate firefighters found itself helping fellow first responders by fighting a fire at an ambulance station.

The early Tuesday morning fire destroyed a Chester County fire department’s ambulance.

The fire started shortly after midnight at the West End Ambulance Substation along Schuylkill Road in East Vincent, Pa., according to officials.

At least one ambulance was destroyed by the blaze and the structure of the small garage was damaged by heavy fire and smoke. Fire crews from both Montgomery and Chester Counties got the upper hand on the flames in less than an hour, said officials.

No injuries were reported and the fire marshal’s office is investigating the cause.
