Feeling Generous? Take a SPIN Through the Park

Raise money for disabilities just by taking a walk

You know those lazy Sunday romps through the park you love so much? Why not make them meaningful?

Special People In Northeast, Inc. (SPIN) will host its fourth annual Stroll in the Park Sunday, April 11 at Pennypack Park.

“The event’s goal is to raise awareness of inclusive environments for people with disabilities,” said Director of Community Affairs Bernice McHale.

Proceeds will go toward children’s service programs like Head Start, Early Intervention and Early Head Start.

“SPIN believes that through partnerships it can achieve an event in which the entire community can benefit,” said McHale.

To raise money and awareness, strollers are encouraged to collect pledges prior to the two-mile walk. Additionally, individuals are asked to pay a registration fee -- $10 for a person, $25 for a family and $5 for students grades one through eight.

To register go to SPIN, Inc.’s Web site or sign up the day of the stroll. The event runs from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m
