Tweeters Get Creative With Ellen at Independence Hall

TV Host challenges Twitter followers to make recycled outfits

In honor of Earth Day, The Ellen DeGeneres Show issued a fun and interactive Twitter Challenge to the City of Brotherly Love Wednesday.

"It’s an outreach of love and Philadelphia is next... Ellen taking over the world via Twitter... one city at a time," DeGeneres Tweeted.

Ellen started tweeting details about the big event on her Twitter feed Tuesday and we've been sharing the info on NBCPhiladelphia's Twitter and/or NBCPhiladelphia Facebook.

The first big clue came from Ellen on Tuesday afternoon:

"Philly’s home to the Liberty Bell, and tmrw it’s gonna be home to my EarthDay Twitter Challenge! Keep your eyes on my tweets! #EllenInPhilly."

Ellen revealed Wednesday afternoon exactly where to meet and when:

"Head to the grassy area in front of Independence Hall @ 4:30."

"If you’re not in front of Independence Hall, you can’t be in the running for an amazing prize," she added.

The prize -- 50 free bikes worth $500 each.

Wednesday morning Ellen issued the challenge telling followers what to do:

“Philly: In honor of Earth Day, make (& wear) an outfit made out of recycled materials. Be fun & creative -- I’ll tell ya where to be later.”

"Your outfit can be made out of anything. It’s like Project Runway meets Earth Day. Can’t wait to see Philly represent..." DeGeneres added.

A little after 4 p.m. it was getting crazy as creative people started showing up, Ellen Tweeted.

People checked back throughout Wednesday to find out more about #EllenInPhilly.
