Chestnut 7 Opens in Chestnut Hill

Chestnut 7, the new neighborhood concept from the gastro gurus behind West Philly's City Tap House and Logan Square's Public House, has been open for a little over a month. Although there's been little buzz about the New American restaurant in Chestnut Hill, manager Tommy Stokes opens up to a packed house night after night.

"The owners wanted to bring back the idea of a neighborhood restaurant to Chestnut Hill, a casual place where you can throw back a few beers, eat some good food, and walk home when you're done."

The atmosphere is definitely casual, as is the menu, with straightforward offerings such as build-to-order burgers, steak and salmon. There are six beers on tap with a focus on local crafty options, and a page-long wine list that is NorCal heavy.

A little over a year ago, the previous tenant, Solaris Grille, declared bankruptcy after 15 years of service and immediately shuttered. It was our favorite place for nachos, not to mention one of the only places in Chestnut Hill with outdoor seating. We had all but lost hope when Chestnut 7 swooped in to save us from curbsiding with a Big Mac and fries. With business bustling as it is, we're happy to report they won't be closing anytime soon. Also, there are nachos. [The Feast]
