Party for Peace

Charlie Mack hosts his annual celebrity weekend

Everybody is welcomed to join Charlie “Mack” Alston for his annual Party 4 Peace Celebrity Weekend.

The purpose of the weekend is to raise awareness and money for organizations trying to stop the violence in Philadelphia.

It began in 1990 as just a celebrity basketball game, but over the years has evolved into so much more.

On Saturday at the PECO building, a celebrity panel will discuss issues with kids such as positive energy, healthy living and wise decision-making, while munching on some great Philly food.

Also on Saturday, Boys II Men will visit the Picc and Riverside Correctional Facilities during the Mothers In Charge Goodwill Tour.

Stars will battle in the 13th Annual Celebrity Basketball Game on Sunday at St. Joseph University’s Hagen Arena. Doors open at 3 p.m. The game starts at 4.

Get to the game a couple hours early for Healthy Hoops. There you can learn how to manage your weight and other chronic diseases and be screened for asthma.

On Sunday night, check out the Laff4Peace All-Star Comedy Show hosted by Buckwild. There are two chances to see the show at the Laff House on South Street -- 7:30 and 10 p.m.
