Caroline's: Great Food, Great People, Affordable Prices

Is anybody else totally sick of eating at corporate restaurants? Appleby’s, Outback, Ruby Tuesday’s. Yuck. Ever just want a meal that tastes homemade at a restaurant with a comfortable and friendly atmosphere? A place where everybody knows your name. Ok, so that’s a little too Cheers-ish, but you get the idea.

Caroline's Restaurant is a family owned business and it shows. Steve and Tom (brothers/owners) play an active part in the management of the restaurant, which is very rare in this day and age of corporate dining. In fact, it is not uncommon to meet them both during your visit and within minutes, they'll make you feel right at home. As will the rest of Caroline's friendly and efficient staff. You'll be greeted with a smile and served like you were the only customers in the place.

Ok, let’s talk food. Caroline’s menu is extensive ranging from burgers to seafood to steak. It’s hard to want for anything at this place. Appetizers like the spinach and crab dip (lump crabmeat, spinach, artichoke hearts, shallots, garlic and a mixture of cheeses served bubbling hot with tri-colored tortilla chips, $8.95) and coconut shrimp (jumbo Gulf shrimp, deep fried golden brown, served with our homemade apricot/raspberry horseradish dipping, $8.95) are both very popular menu items. Other customer favorites are tortellini Thomas (ricotta stuffed tortellini tossed with jumbo shrimp, scallops, and crabmeat in a creamy alfredo sauce, $17.95), chicken cordon bleu (herb-crusted chicken breast stuffed with ham and Swiss cheese topped with a creamy cheese sauce, $13.95), and filet mignon (an 8-oz.cut served with sauteed mushrooms, grilled asparagus, and a baked potato, $21.95). Everything at Caroline's is cooked as requested and is so tasty, you might have to hold back from licking the plate clean. Oh, and did I mention you also get soup or salad with your meal (make sure you try the seafood bisque, it's full of lump crabmeat, yum).

Needless to say, when your plate is cleared, you may have to unbutton our pants and take a breath.

For all of you early birds, Caroline's has an early bird menu from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, and all day long on Tuesday. The early bird menu consists of half price appetizers and includes your meal, dessert, and tea or coffee.

So here are some random facts: Caroline’s has live entertainment every weekend, open mic night on Wednesdays, and a daily happy hour with reduced drink prices and a free buffet. For people on their lunch break, or really any time of day, the good folks at Caroline’s provide free wireless Internet. Just in case you’re planning to get hitched any time soon (or maybe you just want to have a party) they have banquet facilities that can accommodate up to 200 people.

Let’s sum it up. The food is perfection, the atmosphere is relaxing, the service is more than efficient, the people are super friendly and the prices are very reasonable.
