Burger Brawl to Decide Philly's Best

Finally, someone decided that talk was cheap, and everyone should put their money where their mouth is. Rob Wasserman, owner of burger temples Rouge and 500 Degrees, is hosting Philly's first Burger Brawl on Saturday, June 4 at 2PM at William M. Meredith Elementary School.

The price of the event is a steep $100, but all of the proceeds are going directly to the elementary school to raise funds for a new computer lab. Participants include Jen Carroll (10 Arts), Marcie Turney (Barbuzzo), Matt Levin (Adsum), David Ansill (Ladder 15), Jon Adams (Pub and Kitchen), Daniel Stern (R2L), and soon-to-be-Philly restaurateur and Top Chef Spike Mendelsohn.

Other restaurants competing for the crown are Good Dog, North 3rd, Royal Tavern, London Grill, PYT, Paesano's, and Rouge. The Food Network's Marc Summers and Fox 29's Mike Jerrick will be judging, along with Gov. Ed Rendell. The event is taking place at the school, located at 725 S. 5th St, and tickets can be purchased at TicketLeap. [The Feast]
