Brrr…The Cold is Coming

Philly region prepares for winter cold blast

Remember what January feels like? Cold…freezing cold…numb-minding cold – you get the picture. Well get ready for a blast from the future Tuesday.

Serious cold air is moving into the area overnight Monday bringing with it howling winds that will keep temperatures hovering around the freezing mark.

You’ll want to make sure to break out the heavy coats, gloves and hats as wind chills in the 20s will persist throughout the day.

The area may see some snow associated with the front that is moving through, but it is not expected to be anything of substance.

If you’re looking for real snow, make your way up to Camelback Mountain in the Poconos. The ski resort is beginning to make snow Monday night and planning on opening for the season Friday should the cold temps hold.

This would be the earliest opening for the resort in its 50-year history, according to Camelback officials.

What will the rest of the winter hold in store? Make sure to watch Glenn’s long-range winter forecast Thursday night.
