Brother, Sister Killed in Crash

Authorities in northeastern Pennsylvania say a rollover crash on an expressway killed a teenage brother and sister over the weekend.

Lackawanna County Coroner Tim Rowland told The (Scranton) Times-Tribune that the victims were in a vehicle that crashed on the McDade Expressway in Scranton shortly after 9 p.m. Sunday.

Rowland said a 14-year-old male was pronounced dead at the scene and his 13-year-old sister was pronounced dead at Geisinger Medical Center. Their names were not released pending notification of relatives.

Emergency dispatchers said callers reported that three others were involved in the single-vehicle crash, but it wasn't immediately clear whether anyone else was injured.

The Main Avenue on-ramp was closed down for about three hours while crews cleaned up the wreck but has since been reopened.

The exact cause of the crash remained under investigation.
