Bona Cucina is an Italian restaurant nestled in heart of Upper Darby. Now mind you, Sherman Boulevard has none of the glamour of the city, but Bona Cucina’s cuisine, service, and charm give it all of the fabulousness. This BYOB is the perfect place to get together with old friends, family, or a date. They’re happy to accommodate large groups, however, reservations are always required (seating is limited and on any given night, all tables are taken). The best part about the restaurant is that the staff never rushes you, so laughing and catching up with your friends all night long is always an option.
Every dish is made fresh to order and it’s the kind of authentic Italian that you will crave long after you’ve left the restaurant. My favorite is the Potato Gnocchi with cream sauce or the Crab Imperial, although I can say with certainty that you will be more than happy with anything you order. The portions are large and filling, plenty to bring home. The prices are very reasonable. In all honesty, for the quality of their food, they could probably get away with raising their prices, but I’ll trust that you’ll keep that to yourself. Oh, make sure to hit the ATM before you get there, Bona is cash only.
On to the service, it’s impeccable. Every member of the staff that I have encountered on any one of my many visits has been friendly and knowledgeable. The ambiance is comfortable and you’re sure to feel right at home from the minute you walk in the door. Think Sunday dinner with the family.
My advice, grab your favorite bottle of Merlot and get to Bona Cucina.
