Birra Set for Late October Debut

Birra, the brick oven pizzeria from Starr-vet Gordon Dinerman, is expected be ready by late October. Today, the crew at the East Passyunk eatery has provided us with the opening menu to get us ready for the big day, and there's some good stuff to get excited about.

There's a great selection of non-pizza goodies "off the bricks," featuring classic Italian dishes like meatballs, shrimp scampi, lemon chicken, and whole Branzino. If you're into something a little lighter, there's a clutch of paninis featuring housemade porchetta, brisket with pepperoncini jam, and a three cheese blend.

The real star of the show is, of course, the brick oven pies. With ridiculously indulgent toppings like spaghetti and meatballs, duck confit, mac and cheese, and a carbonara mix, there's something for everyone. We've got our eyes on the Francophile-inspired escargot topped pizza, with Parmigiano Reggiano and garlic paste covering the snails. Check out the full menu below the post.

As is the norm in town, expect a serious lineup of local craft beer to wash down all of these pies. Check off another win for East Passyunk Avenue, as it continues to live up to the hype as the most exciting neighborhood in Philly. [The Feast]
