Belle Cakery Opening in South Philly

Fond on Passyunk Avenue is one of our favorite restaurants in Philly, in no small part because of the sugary bliss that pastry chef Jessie Prawlucki plates each night. Word comes from the Fond crew that this fall, the pâtissière will be opening her own shop up the street from the restaurant (at Passyunk and Dickinson) and she's calling it Belle Cakery.

Prawlucki will produce all of Fond's desserts at the new outpost, as well as special order custom cakes and sweets. The bakery will have al fresco seating so passers-by can stop in for coffee and a sweet respite before ordering massive multi-layer confections to take home.

While Passyunk has been the hottest food street as of late, the addition of Belle Cakery will give the restaurant-heavy avenue a much needed sugary shot in the arm. [The Feast]
