Police still have not caught the vandals who stole a baby Jesus figurine from a nativity display near Independence Mall but the creche will be complete just in time for Christmas.
A local family has donated a Jesus figurine to complete the creche.
The DiCocco family who owns the Saint Jude Shop in Havertown, Pa. donated a baby Jesus figurine from their collection.
They presented the Jesus during a small ceremony at the nativity site near 5th and Market Streets in Philly.
About two weeks ago someone stole the original figure even though bolts fastened it down.
This Old City creche has been the target of vandals in the past. Over the years lambs have been stolen, vandals have desecrated the Virgin Mary and broken pieces of other figurines.
