Award-Winning Professor Charged With Child Porn

An award-winning contemporary literature professor in northwestern Pennsylvania is facing another child pornography charge after he was indicted by a federal grand jury.

The grand jury in Erie indicted Kirk Nesset of Allegheny College on Tuesday on one felony count each of distributing, receiving and possessing child pornography.

The 57-year-old Nesset resigned from the Meadville school after he was arrested Oct. 1 and charged with receipt and distribution of child pornography and possession of child pornography.

The new three-count indictment replaces the two initial charges against Nesset.

According to an FBI complaint, an agent traced computer files shared in a peer-to-peer network to Nesset's computer address in August. Authorities say a search of Nesset's external hard drive revealed thousands of images and movies, some showing men having sex with girls.
