Animal cruelty charges have been filed against a New Jersey man who allegedly left his dog alone in a pickup truck for two days, where it was found dead.
Authorities say Patrick Vansaghi of Howell left "Mischief," his Labrador pit bull mix, in the vehicle while he was away on a trip to New York. They say Vansaghi's father found the dog dead on Sunday night, behind the front seat.
A telephone number for Vansaghi could not be located Monday. It was not known if he has retained a lawyer.
