Kick off your weekend with a “Twist.”
Join Chubby Checker and Mayor Michael Nutter as they attempt to set a Guinness World Record for the most people doing “The Twist” at the same time on Friday.
The number to beat is 1,691 -- set by students and staff from two high schools in the United Kingdom (easy!).
Chubby -- a Philly native -- first performed the popular dance move 50 years ago this month at the Rainbow Club in Wildwood, N.J.
The Philadelphia Daily News is hosting Chubby for a free concert at City Hall to commemorate the milestone.
The concert will be held at the Dilworth Plaza at City Hall from noon to 12:45 p.m.
Get there early to be part of the first 2,500 people to get a free T-shirt.
One lucky concertgoer will get to twist with Chubby on stage.
Even if you don't get the chance to Twist on stage you can still meet the man himself -- Chubby will sign autographs following the concert. Maybe he will even do a quick Twist with you if you ask.
