7/9: Talent, Tricks and a Tour

Paddle Penn’s Landing: It’s hot out so why not take a dip in the Delaware--with your kayak paddle that is. Rent a kayak or swan boat for just $5 and paddle along the river as you take in the sites and sounds. Informational and solo tours are available too. Be sure to take in the sunset like you never have before and then have a bite to eat at any of the restaurants along the waterfront. Penn's Landing Marina, 121 North Columbus Boulevard, Philadelphia, Pa. 19106, $5, 3 p.m.

Chipps Cooney: You’ve seen him on NBC’s America’s Got Talent, now see illusionist Chipps Cooney at D'Ignazio's Towne House. Cooney will show his not-so-magical tricks with overwhelming comedy tied into the show. Plus, grab anything from the restaurant’s menu because they were winners in last year’s Best of the Main Line and Western Suburbs by Main Line Today. D'Ignazio's Towne House, 117 Veterans Square, Media, Pa. 19063, $10-$15, 8:30 p.m.

One Republic: Pop rock band One Republic will take the stage at the Electric Factory. They bounced onto the music scene just a few years ago, but this Colorado-based band has scored several number one hits like “Apologize,” “All the Right Moves” and “Stop and Stare.” See One Republic for under $30 tonight. Electric Factory, 421 North 7th Street, Philadelphia, Pa. 19123, $27.50-$30, 8:30 p.m.
