5 Roadtrips: End of Summer Checklist

The calendar flipped to September 1 this morning, but that doesn't mean that all hope for warm weather R&R is lost. There are still a few weekends that you can fill with great eats, beers, and day trips to not-so-distant lands. Today, we're highlighting five mini-vacations you can take before the first frost hits.

Our first suggestion is right over the bridge in the town of Collingswood, NJ where the area's best grilled cheese can be found at The Pop Shop, and untouchable sushi perfection at Sagami. Shopping-types can shoot right up the road to the neighboring town of Haddonfield where colonial charm and vintage clothes make the scene.

Before the sun goes down on summer, you know a trip to the shore is in order, and that means all kinds of great food on the way to the waves, like sandwiches at White House Subs and ice cream at Springer's. If Jersey isn't your thing, heading to the Delaware shore points like Rehoboth and Lewes means Dogfish Head Brewing and saving coin at the outlets.

Lastly, the wonderful little town of New Hope has long been a beacon for the LGBT community, but it also features some of the best eats and old time charm for a weekend away. [The Feast]
