2/4: Collaborations, Concerts and Creative Art

Collaborative Happy Hour: This month Marathon Grill and the Victor Center for Jewish Genetic Diseases have teamed up to raise awareness of Jewish genetic diseases. Beginning in the afternoon, get screened for 11 different Jewish diseases at the Victor Center. After you’ve been screened, head around the corner for a free drink at Marathon Grill whether it’s your first Collaborative event or if you’re a current or ex-member of the Jewish Bowling League. For all those who don’t qualify, don’t fret, you can still get your drink on with great specials and guest bartenders including NBCPhiladelphia.com’s own Dan Stamm. Stick around for DJ Kevin Kong and a partnership with the Haiti Professionals of Philadelphia at 10 p.m. where the cover charge and five-percent of bar sales will go to the organization. Marathon Grill, 929 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, Pa. 19103, +21, 6 p.m.

Philly Rocks for Haiti: Think global, but rock local tonight at the Troc with a special performance by Get the Led Out, Black Landlord, Free Energy, West Philadelphia Orchestra, Blood Feathers and other surprise guests. All groups are local and express different styles of music. Get the Led Out is a Led Zeppelin cover band while Black Landlord liven up the crowd with their hip-hop sound. Free Energy rock with a freestyle and visual sound and Blood Feathers are a bit more indie. The West Philadelphia Orchestra merges all genres together with their eclectic style. All proceeds tonight help support the local organization, Haitian Professionals of Philadelphia. Trocadero Theatre, 1003 Arch Street, Philadelphia, Pa. 19107, $12, 7:30 p.m.

Art Exhibit: Before you head to First Friday in Old City, make sure you stop in Manayunk tonight for First Thursday. Beginning at 8 p.m., Arts @ The Garage will feature over 15 works of art from local talent such as Jay Bevenour (of Philadelphia Weekly's "Hoagie Dip" fame), Stephane Rowley (textile artist) and photographer Danette Pascarella. This month’s theme is love, so find something special for your sweetie this Valentine’s Day at Arts @ The Garage, located in the same courtyard at the Ugly Moose. Plus, food and drink specials will be provided for all who come out. Ugly Moose, 443 Shurs lane, Philadelphia, Pa. 19128, Free, 8 p.m.
