Casino Night: Unmask the possibilities as the Junior League of Philadelphia hosts its fourth annual Casino Night at the Sheraton in Society Hill. With Vegas-style gaming, a live and silent auction, cocktail hour, gourmet dinner and dancing the Big Deal Casino Night is the place to be on Saturday. The event is black tie optional and you are asked to accessorize Mardi Gras-style with masks in a colorful fashion. Although the event is a bit pricey, $35 of it is tax deductable and $100 of the donation will go to your casino chips and “swag bag.” Prizes will be awarded to casino winners such as restaurant gift certificates, personal training sessions, wine tasting classes and overnight trips. When Style Meets Status: Fashion lovers with an extra buck, head to a black tie affair with cocktails, dinner and a live auction. Chic boutique, Our ModestE’, will hold its first annual charity style auction at the Chestnut Club at the Arcadia Theatre this Saturday night. See styles from designer Rashad Corey and his production team as well a few celebrity guests in the crowd. Dinner will be catered by celebrity chef, Chef Smiley. All proceeds will benefit the American Red Cross Haiti Relief Fund as well as the Peace and Love Foundation. All guests are expected to bid on items. Music From Editors: Indie rock-pop musicians Editors, The Antlers and The Dig will hit the stage at theTroc Saturday night. Editors are a British group formed back in 2002. Known for their explosive live performances, the groups’ third album, In This Light and on This Evening, makes you feel like you are right on stage with them. The Antlers are a Brooklyn band and their latest album, Hospice, is getting rave reviews. The Dig is also a New York-based group with the catchiest, most intriguing songs we’ve ever heard. I Luv Africa: In celebration of black history month, this Sunday RWUL presents “I Luv Africa,” a film series and community discussion at The Rotunda. The series showcases independent films with African stories and topics, creating awareness and insight to shatter typical stereotypes. Followed by the short films will be a panel discussion from noted Nomadic Wax and Sol Productions (hip-hop in Africa), The Africa Channel (programming and community), members of the Peace Corps and a new filmmaker who has explored the crisis in Darfur.
