Gay Film Fest: All this weekend, celebrate the second annual Gay Film Festival. Head outside the city to New Hope, Pa. for all the entertainment including an opening reception with complimentary refreshments, movie trailer screenings and a chance to meet a producer. Seven feature-length films will be shown incorporating lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender themes. We think this sounds like an excellent opportunity to catch films you normally wouldn’t ever see if it wasn’t for a festival like this. Holiday Tour: If you hop in your car every holiday season and drive around to check out the meticulously decorated houses, then this Saturday, round up the family for a guided tour in a trolley (or in the comfort of your own car) to see some of Philly’s historic mansions dressed up for the holiday season. Cedar Grove, Laurel Hill, Lemon Hill, Mount Pleasant, Sweetbriar, Omiston and Woodford in Fairmount Park will be on display for all to see. After the light show, pick up a mug of hot chocolate and do some shopping to really get in the holiday spirit. Jazz Night: Lovers of jazz have a night to rejoice this weekend. This Saturday night, catch all of the entertainment as the legendary Bill Dixon teams up with the Exploring Star Orchestra led by Rob Mazurek. Dixon has been at the forefront of jazz since the 1960s and continuously tries to introduce jazz to a broader audience. For this rare appearance, catch all the action and be entertained by the Exploring Star Orchestra -- best known for adventurous kaleidoscopic performances. Glamour Kills: Bring out your inner rock child and head to the Electric Factory this Sunday night. The Glamour Kills Tour rolls into town featuring All Time Low, We the Kings and Friday Night Boys. Hailing from Baltimore, All Time Low broke onto the punk scene back in 2003. They’ve had hits such as “Weightless” and “Poppin’ Champagne.” We the Kings stem from Florida and can be best classified as a powerpop or an alternative rock band. Kings have created a series of webisodes called The King’s Carriage and have a full-length album coming out this month. The Friday Night Boys possess an electronica power punk sound and formed back in 2006. Catch all three acts for less than $25 this Sunday night.
