11/2: Help, High Notes and Happy Hour

Happy Hour and Art: Head to Liberties Restaurant and Bar tonight for yummy happy hour specials. Enjoy a $1.50 off all drinks including beer and wine--their selection is delicious. All menu items such as pizza, burgers, fries and sandwiches will also be $1.50 off. Work off your appetite as you take a short walk to the Pure Gold Gallery in the Piazza at Schmidts. Open Mic: Noted as one of the best music scenes in town, head to Connie’s Ric Rac in South Philly for open mic night. Bring your band and sign up at 9 p.m. All bands are welcome and a complete backline is available. If you’re not in a band, here’s your chance to check out some of Philly’s hottest underground bands and future stars. Other than live music, Ric Rac also offers plays, stand-up, sketch and improv comedy.  Head to the show tonight and get all the details on upcoming shows. Film Tips: If you have passion for screenwriting and an interest in the structure that makes up every movie you see, come to the Bryn Mawr Film Institute tonight. Beginning at 6:30 p.m., all attendees will learn the process behind writing such as story arc, scene building, character development and more.  Critical techniques as well as basic building blocks to writing, will all be taught by James Breckenridge, the founder and director of The PlayCrafters Group.
