11/13-11/14: Funk, a Feast and Bieber Fever

Ani DiFranco: See the funky feminist and Grammy Award-winning singer, Ani DiFranco Saturday night at the Keswick Theatre. Mr. Gay: Philadelphia hosts this years’ U.S. Mr. Gay competition Saturday night. The show is hosted by Frank Decaro and Ms. Brittany Lynn. Celebrity judges include Michael Musto, David Evangelista, Mickey Boardman, Terence Noonan, just to name a few. Tribute Celebration: This Sunday celebrate award-winning poet and activist Sonia Sanchez with a special tribute at The Baptist Temple. Join host Lorene Cary and special guests Danny Glover, Talib Kweli, Ruby Dee, Rennie Harris, Bernice Johnson Reagon, Evan Solot, Odean Pope and Monnette Sudler as they honor Sanchez through forms of poetry, music and prose. Bieber Fever: Sunday night see pop star Justin Bieber at the Wells Fargo Center. He began as a regular YouTube user, now he’s on the top of the Billboard charts with hits “One Time,” “Baby” and “Somebody to Love.” Although tickets are pricey, you have to see what makes all the girls go wild. Plus, $1 each ticket will be donated to Pencils of Promise charity, working to build schools and increase educational opportunities. Wells Fargo Center, 3601 S.
