100,000 Free Bus Seats for the New Year

Megabus usually offers low prices, but this is a new extreme

Planning to travel in 2010 but strapped for cash? You're in luck.

Megabus.com, a city-to-city express bus service, started offering free seats Tuesday -- 100,000 of them, to be exact.

The site usually offers fares as low as $1 for bus rides, but in an effort to stimulate sales, they are now offering free seats for people traveling from Jan. 6 to March 20.

“The new year brings promise that our economy is recovering. We are encouraging people to get out and travel,” said Dale Moser, president and COO of megabus.com.

The deal could work perfectly for someone trying to make it from Philly to the Big Apple.

And, these aren't your average buses -- they are double-decker cruisers with reclining seats, free Wi-Fi and restrooms. Sounds more like a plane than a bus, right?

The promotion started Tuesday but will extend until seats run out. Just enter the code "GETAWAY" to get your free spot and hit the road.
