If all the US Open action at Ardmore has you itching to break out your driver and get back on the golf course, look no further than Woodcrest Country Club. Located in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, Woodcrest is less than ten miles from downtown Philadelphia, making it an easy outing for city golfers.

Even better? The once private club is now open to the public. Play the challenging 18-hole course, laid out over 178 acres of pristine greens, tough fairways and beautiful landscapes, for an affordable $100 weekday greens fee. Or, sneak in a late afternoon twilight round for just $55. Weekends are only slightly more expensive. For tee times, call 856-428-1243.

Woodcrest's new semi private status (annual memberships will be available in November 2013) is part of the new ownership's plan to modernize the historic country club while still honoring the legacy of the storied William Flynn designed course. Considered the area's most prestigious course by many experienced golfers, the nearly 90 year old club was saved from extinction last month when First Montgomery Group of Marlton bought it for just over $10 million in a bankruptcy auction.

In addition to affordable day rates, golfers can expect the option to play nine holes instead of 18, practice with a pro on the driving range or putting green and, in the near future, swimming, tennis and fitness classes. All of these added amenities will not only make the country club ideal for Philly golfers, but also their families.
