Get Your Skate on at Penn's Landing

The Blue Cross RiverRink is open for business

Looking for a cool way to kick off the holidays?

Well, you're in luck, the Blue Cross RiverRink opened for business Friday. The city's only outdoor rink located at Penn's Landing gives skaters a great view of the Delaware River as they glide along the rink.

For the 19th season, the Olympic-sized rink is frozen on top of a parking lot -- and will stay frozen throughout the whole season thanks to some confusing technology having to do with water and anti-freeze and little tubes keeping it solid.

Admission is $9 depending on the hours and skate rentals will run you $4.

If skating isn't your thing -- or you just need to warm up on a cold winter day -- you can head inside to enjoy the snack bar and arcade.

New this year, you can track your skating and check out mini tutorials with the "Go Figure!" app available for free download in the iTunes store.

The rink is located on Columbus Blvd. at Market Street. For a full schedule of skating times and other events at the rink, click here.
