A four-day Independence Day celebration is bringing fun and excitement to Penn's Landing.

The "Star Spangled Weekend" kicks off Friday at the Delaware River Waterfront, and the party keeps going through the weekend and into the Fourth of July. The celebration will include fireworks, music, vendors, food and a litany of other fun activities.

On Friday, soccer fans will get a special treat as US Men's National Team legend Tony Meola hits the Cherry Street Pier starting at 11 a.m. for a "Day for Play." The free event will have plenty of activities for both fans and players to celebrate and enjoy "the beautiful game."

There will be food vendors aplenty, like Birdie's Biscuits, which offers you things like cheesecakes stacked high with deliciousness. "We've got some sweet and savory delights," owner Jeffrey Presley said.

Friday's activities will continue into the night with a free neighborhood concert by the Philadelphia Orchestra.

The music continues Saturday as the United Sttes Army Band takes the stage at the Great Plaza, leading to a firework show. Earlier in the day, people will be able to shop their favorite local vendor as artists, writers and small businesses bring their items to Spruce Street Harbor Park and the Cherry Street Pier.

Sunday will bring a day of family fun as kids celebrate play by building things like catapults and forts at Spruce Street Harbor Park. Of course, more vendors will be around to display their artisanal creations during the Artist and Artisan Market at Cherry Street Pier.

Things come to a close on Movie Monday with a screening of French documentary "Faces Places" at the pier.

The day's main event, however, will take place at the Great Plaza as the United States Army Field Band plays its "Let Freedom Ring" concert before another firework spectacle closes off the night.
