Record Warmth Can't Keep Poconos Ski Resorts From Opening Slopes

Some of Pennsylvania's major ski resorts are opening this week despite unseasonably warm temperatures that have made it feel like spring or fall.

In the Pocono Mountains, Camelback managed to make enough snow to open Tuesday. Camelback says on its website, "OMG! We open Tuesday."

Blue Mountain opened Monday. It says conditions are "spring-like" with a thin base and narrow areas on the trails.

In western Pennsylvania, Seven Springs and Hidden Valley say they'll open Wednesday.

How long the snow lasts is another matter. High temperatures are expected to climb into the 60s this week, reaching nearly 70 Thursday at Blue Mountain.

Slopes at Boyce Park, a few miles east of Pittsburgh, opened Monday. Officials say it'll be too warm to make any more snow this week, and forecast rains could wipe out what's there.
