Watch NBC10's Rio 100 special in the video above.
As Team USA goes for gold in in Rio de Janeiro, NBC10 will be following the biggest moments from the Olympic Games and from our more than 60 Philadelphia-area athletes thanks to our team in Brazil.
Anchor Jacqueline London will join producer Andrea Berry and photographer Dan Lee to cover the Rio Games and athletes like soccer star Carli Lloyd (Delran, NJ), sprinter English Gardner (Voorhees, NJ), basketball star Elena Delle-Donne (Wilmington, Del.) and shot putter Joe Kovacs (Bethlehem, Pa.).
It will mark the first time Jacqueline will cover an Olympics for NBC10.
"Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve loved watching The Olympics," said Jacquelyn. "I was on the swim and crew team in school, so it was automatic that I was glued when those sports came on TV. Like most little girls I was also obsessed with watching gymnastics -- always in awe of how they could balance and fly on the beams with such ease.
"I’m thrilled to be able to cover our local athletes competing in the Olympics and can’t wait to share all of their incredible stories with NBC 10 viewers. Each athlete has a remarkable story of success, determination and will to win. It will be an honor to witness it in person and bring those inspirational stories to viewers each and every night."
Jacqueline and her team already got a taste of Rio during a visit for the Rio 100 special. They will now give NBC10 viewers an inside look at what’s happening at the Summer Olympics.
"The Rio Olympics will be unlike any other, and NBC10 is planning the ultimate viewer experience," said Andrea. "We are bringing you the stories of hometown heroes. We have some amazing Olympians from Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware – and we’re giving you an up-close look as they live out their dreams."
Look for their first reports in the days before the Opening Ceremony on Aug. 5 and then throughout the 17 days of the Summer Olympics.
