The Philadelphia Soul will be honored for winning ArenaBowl XXIX at a noontime “celebration rally” on Aug. 31 in the City Hall Courtyard.
The Soul won their second ArenaBowl championship in 11 seasons Friday night with an upset 56-42 victory over the favored Arizona Rattlers. The team last won the league championship in 2008.
Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney, who will participate in the celebration, has declared Wednesday “Philadelphia Soul World Champions Day.” He will be joined at the event by the Philadelphia Soul ownership group, including former Philadelphia Eagle quarterback and current ESPN commentator Ron Jaworski, the Soul coaching staff, players, dance team and front staff.
