Federal Donuts opens its third location on March 10.
It created a legion of crazed followers in October 2011 with the opening of its first space at 1219 S. 2nd St., working out of tiny kitchen with maybe eight stools at a counter.
On the first day, my colleague John George and I were among the customers lined up to try the doughnuts and spicy fried chicken.
One of the five partners, Michael Solomonov, said this week the company has come a long way since then. It has better managed how many doughnuts and how much chicken is needed each day. Read more about this story on PBJ.com.
