The Miami Heat's LeBron James appears set to make his feature film debut. Deadline Hollywood reported Wednesday night that the four-time NBA MVP will team up with comedian and actor Kevin Hart to star in "Ballers," a comedy produced by Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment.

James will play an NBA superstar whose diminuitive brother (the 5'3" Hart) gets the chance to come out from his shadow when Hart and his friends attend a basketball fantasy camp in Miami.

Hart is slated to co-write the film with his writing partners Joey Wells, Chris Spencer and Harry Ratchford. An earlier version of the script was written by Lowell Ganz, Babaloo Mandel, and Peter Steinfeld.

Brian Grazer and Michael Rosenberg will produce the film.

James has played himself on the HBO series "Entourage," but has not acted in a film before. He also helped write, produce, and voiced himself in the animated series "The LeBrons." He has also played himself in a number of TV ads for Samsung, State Farm, Nike, and other brands.

In October, James said on Twitter that he would love to make a version of "Space Jam," the 1996 Looney Tunes film that starred Michael Jordan. Apart from Kevin Hart's cartoonish stature (he is a full 17 inches shorter than James), "Ballers" will not be much like "Space Jam."

But if James and Hart can do well at the box office, perhaps Hollywood might take notice and James' "Space Jam" dream could become a reality down the line.
