Arms and Armor Family Celebration

If you're curious about armors, football gear and/or firefighters, then this event is for you. Armor is also essential in the natural world and the armadillo at the Museum will teach you why. The Fencing Academy of Philadelphia will share their secrets during their demonstration and you can make your own armor in the Balcony Studio. It's a one of a kind family celebration you won't want to miss this Super Bowl Sunday. (Pay what you wish; museum admission)

African American Children's Book Fair

Saturday, Feb. 1, 1-3 p.m.

Meet bestselling authors/illustrators at the 22nd African American Children's Book Fair. Don't miss out on the NBC Reading Circle book giveaway and PECO's Literary Salon, which will host a cartoon and crocheting workshop. Fun for the whole family!

Saturday, Feb. 1; Museum open from 12-4 p.m., storytelling at 1 and 2:30 p.m.

Celebrate winter with an afternoon of storytelling, arts and crafts, and other activities. You are invited to explore the natural history museum with a winter-themed scavenger hunt, examine and touch real specimens from the teaching collection and participate in hands-on activities to learn more about how animals survive the cold winter months and create seasonal art projects that you can take home. Event is free, but the suggested donations are $8 for adults and $5 for children.

Enjoy the sounds of Good Mornin' Music (GMM), the newest program of Commonwealth YouthChoirs offering the love of music through song, movements and instruments. Designed for children Pre-K -3rd Grade. Free!

Owl Prowl

Get to know the screech and horn owls who nest at the Center. Enjoy the night hike and learn the survival strategies of local owls.
