Butter-Up to 100th Pennsylvania Farm Show's Massive Food Sculpture

Dozens of people gathered to witness the unveiling of a carefully sculpted half-ton of butter that heralds the opening of the 100th Pennsylvania Farm Show.

The life-size butter sculpture revealed Thursday at the farm show complex in Harrisburg depicts a dairy cow and farm family members showing off baby chicks and apple pies.

The state Agriculture Department estimates more than 500,000 people will attend this year's show, a celebration of agriculture and rural life which opens Saturday and runs through the following Saturday.

Events include rodeos, a food court featuring an abundance of Pennsylvania foods, exhibits of modern farm equipment, square-dance contests and more than 13,000 competitive exhibits featuring horses, cattle, sheep, swine, goats and rabbits.
