“Top Chef” Names Winner, Spoils Ending By Posting Clips Early

The D.C. version of "Top Chef" gobbled up its main course before the appetizers were even served.

Season 7 of the Bravo reality show concluded this week by naming its newest star cook, but the network inadvertently gave away the ending by posting a clip from the cast reunion show that revealed the winner, reports Mediate.

Kevin Sbraga, the 31-year-old executive chef at Rat's at the Grounds for Sculpture in New Jersey, won the cometition in something of an upset over Ed Cotton of Plein Sud at the Smyth Hotel in New York City and Angelo Sosa of Xie Xie, also in New York.

"This is a life-changer," Sbraga said of his win. "My career's been good, but this could make it great, make it incredible."

He also became the first African-American to be crowned Top Chef, calling the honor "absolutely huge."

This was not the first time that "Top Chef" had its plate swept away before the meal was finished. Food & Wine magazine accidentally ruined the show's second season by posting an interview with the winner online in advance of the finale.
