Estefan May Immortalize Miami Sound Machine

Barack Obama must be a fan of the Miami Sound Machine

Emilio Estefan may finally have his shot at getting the Miami Sound Machine named a national treasure.

President Barack Obama has deemed the former member of group member a suitable candidate for the Commission to Study the Potential Creation of a National Museum of the American Latino, according to Naked Politics.

Estefan will try to sell his points to a group of esteemed journalists, lawyers and other polticians who will serve on the board.

We can only assume the "rhythm" got to the President.

The commission has the task of researching the possibility of a Washington D.C. museum dedicated to all things Latino including arts, history and culture. It is still unclear which field Estefan will be representing, but we assume Gloria was too busy to accept a seat on the board because she had some pressing issues with the Miami Dolphins.

Estefan has history serving president's. President George W. Bush named him a member of the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities and of the President's Advisory Committee on the Arts.

Estefan has had an esteemed career as a songwriter and producer (he has written music for Shakira, Marc Anthony, Ricky Martin and Jennifer Lopez).

"I am pleased to appoint these outstanding men and women to the Commission to Study the Potential Creation of a National Museum of the American Latino – a museum that would be dedicated to celebrating the history and achievements of Latinos in America," Obama said in a statement.
