Katy Perry is clawing back her Lady Gaga critique.
Perry denied feuding with fellow pop star Lady Gaga, telling EW.com that her tweet against those who “use blasphemy as entertainment” was misinterpreted as a Gaga slam because “cat fights” are a “turn on for people.”
Last week, the 25-year-old “California Gurls” singer tweeted her disapproval following the release of Lady Gaga’s new video “Alejandro,” which portrays Gaga as a scantily-clad nun singing in front of a cross and sucking on a rosary. In the video, which Gaga has described a tribute to her gay fans, the pop star is surrounded by an army of nearly-nude men.
"Using blasphemy as entertainment is as cheap as a comedian telling a fart joke," Perry tweeted at the time.
But speaking to EW.com, Perry said her tweet was “more of a non-specific, general thing.”
“Everybody made it out to be a cat fight,” Perry said. “I think people love catfights. It’s a turn on for people.”
Perry, the daughter of devout ministers, said in a separate interview with a French radio station over the weekend that she is still one of Gaga’s “biggest fans.”

"Lately, I've just been seeing some things that are kind of... not something I would do, I guess," Perry said, Usmagazine.com reported.
"[People say] I'm a very hypocritical person, 'How do you say that and [sing], 'I Kissed a Girl'?" Perry said. "Spirituality and sexuality are two separate things. When you decide to put it into the same subject, it gets interesting for some people."
But Perry said she realized “some people have different viewpoints," and included fiance Russell Brand in a category shared with Gaga and Madonna.
British comedian Brand also says “things that are ehhh,” Perry said.
"Everyone knows... I've said 100 times on my Twitter: I'm one of the biggest Lady Gaga and Madonna and Russell Brand fans.”
