Jay-Z to Headline Music Festival on Labor Day Weekend in Philly

Rap mogul Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter will headline a two-day music festival

Hip-hop mogul Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter will headline a two-day music festival on Ben Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia during the Labor Day weekend.

The "Budweiser Made in America" concert announcement was originally leaked by The Philadelphia Inquirer

During a press conference Monday morning on the steps of the Philadelphia Art Museum, Carter along with Mayor Michael Nutter announced that the rap superstar will be the curator and headlining performer at the festival.

"This Labor Day, we will not only make history but we’re benefiting a great organization," Jay-Z said in the release. "'Budweiser Made in America' will encompass every genre of music, creating and showcasing the only genre that matters, 'great music.'"

Musicians are expected to range from Hip-Hop to Latin to R&B to rock. At the press conference Monday, Jay-Z said that about 70-percent of the artists were confirmed but besides that no inclinations were made towards who will join Hov for the festival.

The two-day event is expected to feature about 28 acts on Sept. 1 and Sept. 2 on three stages located along the Parkway and Fairmount Park. Tickets will go on sale on May 23 -- two days after the full lineup is announced -- and cost $99 plus service fees, according a press release from the mayor's office. You can buy tickets through Live Nation or Ticketmaster.

Some proceeds from the event will benefit the United Way.

"United Way has brought Jay-Z and Budweiser together to host this national event in the birthplace of America. We are excited to invite the musicians, sponsors, guests and festivals goers for a memorable weekend," Nutter said in the release.
