He's Here! Vote for the New ‘Today' Show Puppy's Name

The "puppy with a purpose" will appear on the 'Today' show regularly as he maneuvers training

The "Today" show welcomed its new "puppy with a purpose" on Monday.

The sounds of the West Point Band played prior to the puppy's unveiling, then the dog walked through a red curtain wearing an American flag bandana.

Viewers may vote for one of three names: Sarge, Charlie or Ace. The winner will be announced on "Today."

The friendly little pup comes to us from America's VetDogs, a nonprofit organization that trains dogs to support veterans and first responders during combat, both physically and emotionally.

The person raising the pup will focus on social and house behavior training, confidence and service dog tasks.

After 14 months of training, he will take a temperament test to show his strengths. He may become a PTSD service dog, hearing response, guide dog or a seizure response dog.

For now, he needs a name. Vote here.
