WATCH New “Terminator: Genysis” Trailer Reveals Major Plot Twist

Warning: spoilers ahead.

That's right. We now live in a society where watching trailers is a dangerous game. The new "Terminator: Genysis" trailer has been released and not only does it include some serious action, it also reveals a massive plot twist to fans. It seems that this installment of the "Terminator" franchise will do away with all of its predecessors' plots because John Connor, savior of mankind, is now the bad guy.

Although this might seem like a little factoid that would be saved for the movie, it has been revealed in the trailer along with a whole lot more information regarding the plot. The characters seem to travel back and forth in time (literally or just in flashbacks TBD), but like the first movie, Kyle Reese journeys back to 1982. This time, however, Sarah Connor is aware of his mission. The next scene shows an '80s Sarah talking to her then-young son only to flash forward again, revealing a grown up John as the new Terminator.

Just a few weeks ago it was revealed that there would be a new Terminator, but never did we think it would be the original hero. That's certainly one way to forward the franchise, but we're surprised that Paramount and Skydance would reveal such an enormous twist in the movie's second trailer.

Here is the official synopsis, via Paramount: When John Connor (Jason Clarke), leader of the human resistance, sends Sgt. Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) back to 1984 to protect Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke) and safeguard the future, an unexpected turn of events creates a fractured timeline. Now, Sgt. Reese finds himself in a new and unfamiliar version of the past, where he is faced with unlikely allies, including the Guardian (Arnold Schwarzenegger), dangerous new enemies, and an unexpected new mission: To reset the future...
