Simon Cowell Breaks Silence on Baby Drama: “I'm Proud to Be a Dad”

Simon Cowell is breaking his silence and speaking out about expecting a baby with his former friend's now ex-wife, Lauren Silverman.

"Things are changing in my life right now, for the better," the X Factor judge told BBC at the London premiere of One Direction: This Is Us today.

"I'm proud to be a dad," he added to BBC's reporter when asked about the recent baby news. "It's something I haven't thought of before, and then, now I know I feel good about it. And she's [Silverman] a very special girl."

This is the first time Cowell, 53, has confirmed the big baby news and shared his feelings about becoming a dad.

When asked about the baby drama news earlier this month at the FOX TCA event in L.A., he played coy, saying, "I haven't read the newspapers. Am I missing something? Sorry. Unfortunately, I have to keep this private for the moment. It's just one of those things, but thank you anyway."

While at today's premiere, Cowell also hinted at his impending fatherhood, saying of One Direction, "This is a dream. I feel like a father."

News that Cowell and Silverman are expecting their first child together broke back at the end of July. Silverman and her ex Andrew Silverman reached a divorce settlement just last week.
