Selena Gomez Honors Kidney Donor at ‘Billboard Woman of the Year'

Selena Gomez has a lot to celebrate this year.

The “Wolves” singer broke down in tears acknowledging her kidney donor, Francia Rasia as she accepted her Billboard Woman of the Year award on Thursday.

“To be honest, I think Francia should be getting this award, cause she saved my life” Gomez said.

This past summer Gomez stayed low from the public eye and later revealed in September that she had underdone a kidney transplant for her battle with lupus. The donor was Rasia, an actress for the upcoming show "Grownish."

Gomez made the announcement of the surgery on Instagram when she posted a photo of the two holding hands while laying in hospital beds.

Rasia was joined Elle Fanning when she awarded Gomez at the 2017 Billboard Women in Music. Fanning also acknowledged the moment she met Gomez considering her as an empowered woman and a true friend.
