Matt Damon Hosts ‘SNL', Miley Cyrus and Mark Ronson Perform

In "It's a Wonderful Trump", Kenan Thompson brought President Donald Trump to a Christmas party in a world where he never became president

After a week packed with Christmas preparations and political drama, the cast of “Saturday Night Live” had plenty to talk about.

In this episode’s cold open, a star-studded cast showed the audience what a world without President Donald Trump would look like. Trump, played by Alec Baldwin, was joined by a lineup of guest stars returning to characters from the past. Ben Stiller reprised his role as Trump’s former attorney Michael Cohen, Matt Damon returned as Judge Brett Kavanaugh and Robert DeNiro came back as an omnipresent special counsel Robert Mueller.

In his opening monologue, host Matt Damon capped off the last “SNL” of the calendar year with a story about when he watched the show as a child. Damon offered a toast to a brighter 2019.

On “Weekend Update," Colin Jost and Michael Che broke down a week of investigations surrounding Trump associates. They took a look at Michael Cohen’s three-year sentence and the subsequent tweets from Trump in response.

The duo also gave their Christmas gifts to each other on air. The two decided their gifts would be to write each other jokes to say live.

Miley Cyrus performed her new single, “Nothing Breaks Like A Heart,” with producer Mark Ronson on guitar.
