Matt Lauer Jokes About Miley Cyrus' Claim He's Too Old for Sex

Matt Lauer kicked off Tuesday's "Today" show with a nod to Miley Cyrus' claim that he's "definitely not sexual."

"I'm Matt Lauer, and I'm too old to have sex," Lauer joked after some needling from other "Today" personalities.

The comments came a day after Cyrus' awkward moment with Lauer during her appearance on the NBC morning show. Cyrus, 20, said she heard people over 40 are "a little less sexual."

"Do you know how old I am?" Lauer asked.

"I'm going to guess 40," Cyrus said.

"55!" Matt exclaimed.

"55," Miley laughed. "Oh, well then, you're really, definitely, not sexual."

The claim, while humorous, is also completely unfounded. Seventy-five percent of people ages 57 to 64 were still sexually active, according to a 2007 study in the New England Journal of Medicine.

Sex expert Joan Price, who is pushing 70 herself, told "Today" that there is a misconception that people over 40 are not sexually active because younger people are instilled with the idea that says, "if you don't look like Miley Cyrus, you're not having sex."
